Shokz makes some of the best bone-conduction headphones in the world, and their Indian customers rate them accordingly — the OpenRun sits at 4 stars across more than 26,000 reviews on Amazon India. This article is not going to pretend otherwise.

But there is one number that decides this for most Indian buyers. The cheapest Shokz on Amazon India is ₹9,999. The most expensive NG EarSafe is ₹4,999. The two ranges do not overlap at any point. So the real question is not "which is better" — it is what you actually gain by doubling your spend, and whether you need it.

Two things worth noticing in that table. First, the range starts at ₹9,999 — there is no budget Shokz. Second, the review counts are enormous, which tells you these are real products with real satisfied users, not a brand you need to be warned about.

Why Indian buyers look for alternatives

The price is an import price

Shokz is not manufactured or officially distributed at scale in India. What you pay reflects import duty, marketplace margin and seller spread. It is not that Shokz is overcharging India specifically — it is that the cost structure of getting the product here lands on the sticker.

Honest verdict: you are not getting Shokz's bass tuning or their decade of driver refinement. For a single buyer that is a straightforward substitution. For a team it is a different conversation entirely: one headset is a personal preference, twenty headsets for a support floor is a budget line, and at that scale availability and replacement turnaround stop being conveniences and become the whole decision.

Be clear about the trade-off: the Lite uses air conduction rather than bone conduction — a small driver just outside the ear canal directing sound in without sealing it. It leaks more sound at high volume and gives up bass compared with good bone conduction. What it keeps is the thing that matters most: an open canal, no in-ear pressure, full awareness of your surroundings.
